Growing up in a family that always had dogs it was natural
that I would want a dog too. When they asked me what breed I
liked I answered: a Peke! My mother liked the Peke too, and
this is how Puppy came to live with us. Later, when I
married Gerrit, I was allowed to take her with us to our new
home.
My
familiarisation with the Lhasa Apso was caused by a client
of the hairdresser's salon where I worked. She had a litter
and I was invited to come and see the puppies. I fell in
love with the breed instantly and bought my first Lhasa Apso
named Ninja. Unfortunately her uterus had to be removed at a
young age.
After
searching around for a long time we ended up at the Chakpori
kennel and that is where we bought our second Lhasa Apso.
Rhamee is the foundation bitch of our kennel, and she is
still present in the pedigrees of the dogs we have today.
Out of
Rhamee I bred my first three show dogs, named Dar Al Amra
Byron and Dar Al Amra Banomi (brother and sister) and a year
later Dar Al Amra Conchita was born from the same
combination. After moving to get more space for the dogs the
male Sandokan v.d. Pacific Paradise joined the team. He
became my first Dutch Champion. This male spent a year in
the UK to be shown and to be used as stud. While being there
he developped a star attitude - he was given the main
character in a movie! During the shooting he had his very
own hotel room and was given anything he desired.

After
winning in the show ring on a regular base, one day still
gives me the chills: the World Dog Show in Dortmund. My home
bred bitch Kyra (Dar Al Amra Hot Gossip) won the title of
Junior World Winner at the tender age of 10 months old. She
continued her successes with many Best of Breed and Group
wins later on. My other dogs have successfull show cariers
too and won a lot, but this day is still very special to me.

Today,
after 20 years of Lhasa Apsos, I have exported 10 dogs to
the UK (kennel Nemmi), Germany (kennel Man-Man-Su) and
Spain. Next to that I showed dogs to their titles for owners
from the UK, Sweden and the Netherlands, and completed
titles with my own dogs. Every litter and every dog is a new
challenge, but the character is still the most important
thing to me. No one is suited by a dog with bad character.
This all would not have been possible without the excellent
help of my husband. He does the deliveries and is the doggy
sit when I go to the dog shows.
I
hope to continue for many more years with this exeptional
breed!
